Beaver Chase Running Series Presented by Bushtukah
Innovation Drive, Kanata
Organized by the Run Ottawa Club, runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the 1-mile or 4-mile events, which start and finish on Innovation Drive in Kanata. The 4-mile course meanders through the Monk Conservation Area in Kanata Lakes and Morgan’s Grant.
Although a participation event, the Beaver Chase Run Series is an excellent opportunity to run with friends or family at a pace that suits personal fitness levels. Each run also has support along the route to simulate race conditions, including a water station, marshals and distance markers.
The Beaver Chase Series was initiated back in 1994 as a once monthly low key event designed to get people of abilities out running. The 1 and 4 mile distances make it attractive for all ages. It got its name at the very first Beaver Chase Series event, where the lead runner was approaching a footbridge over a small creek. A beaver scurried out of the water and chased the lead runner to the bridge and then stood and watched as all the runners past by.
Course Information
The start and finish is on Innovation Drive near the corner of Hines Road. The 1 mile event is an out and back, with the turn around on Innovation Drive. The 4 mile event continues on Innovation Drive and then hooks up with the recreational pathway that winds through the Monk Conservation Trail and eventually winds it way to Hines Road and back to the finish on Innovation Drive.
Timing/Results: All events in the Beaver Chase Series are manually timed. Volunteers call out times at the finish line and each runner is to record their times on the form provided. Results will be posted on the Run Ottawa Club website shortly thereafter.
Entry Fees
Payable at each event only. The cost for each Beaver Chase run is $6 per person for any runner 15 years of age or older. Youth 14 years and under pay $3 at the event.
